On Oct 11, 2019, a gas explosion incident caused two utility workers to be injured while responding to an emergency gas rupture caused by construction activities.

An investigation is pending, however early findings show that a broken 2″ PE line was ruptured by a construction crew when they failed to locate the correct line (reportedly incorrectly marking a non-active steel line). Initial utlity gas first responders had successfully stopped the flow of gas (squeezing off) the north side line, and an ignition source caused the explosion while the crew was working to squeeze off the southern-fed line.
